The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone age six months and older receive an annual influenza vaccination. This year's flu vaccine will protect against three viruses (an H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus and the H1N1 virus that caused so much illness last season).
Especially important to be vaccinated are those in the highest risk categories. These include:
People who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities
People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu, including: Health care and child care workers.
Between 5% to 20% of the U.S. population gets the flu each flu season; it’s severity is unpredictable, but it's estimated that more than 200,000 people in the U.S. are hospitalized from flu-related complications.
We have vaccinations available for children ages 4 and up.Call our office to schedule your flu shot today.
